On Friday, eight groups for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar were determined in a draw at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center. Spain and Germany, both former world champions, are in the same group. Out of 32 teams, 29 have been confirmed, including the host Qatar.

Out of 32 teams, 29 have been confirmed, including the host Qatar. The two Intercontinental Play-off winners and the European Play-off winners will determine the three remaining berths in the draw.

Qatar had previously been designated as the top team in Group A. Following that, a lottery was used to determine which country would be assigned to which category.

The teams are divided into four pots for the draw based on their FIFA rankings from March. The top seven teams in the rankings are ranked first, with host Qatar at the top. Pot-2 contains the next eight teams in the rankings, while Pot-3 contains the next eight.

The next five teams, as well as the winners of the remaining two intercontinental play-offs and the European play-offs, are ranked fourth.

In general, no more than one team from the same continent is allowed in a single group. Europe is the sole exception. They do not, however, have more than two teams in any one group.

In the first match, Ecuador, a South American country, will meet Qatar, the hosts.
