Dubai, June 15, 2022 (BSS) - England's Joe Root has topped the ICC Test batting rankings, overtaking Australia's Marnus Labushan. The world's best batsman in Tests with a rating of 697 is now root.
Root has been at the peak of his form with the bat in recent times. He has already scored four centuries this year. Root recently completed 10,000 runs in Tests as England's second batsman.
Root scored 11, unbeaten 115, 176 and 3 runs in four innings of the first two Tests of the ongoing Test series against New Zealand. In other words, this right-handed batsman took the top spot in the recent performances.However, Labushen's rating point does not differ much from the second-ranked route. Labushen has a rating of 892.
Labushan rose to the top of the rankings after playing two innings of 103 and 51 in two Tests against England in Adelaide in December last year.Root has a chance to strengthen his position in the third and final Test against New Zealand. England also have one Test against India and three Tests against South Africa next month. Australia will play a two-match Test series on Sri Lankan soil later this month. Labushen will be eager to get back to the top with the best in that series.
Australia's Steven Smith is in the third place with 845 ratings. Pakistan captain Babar Azam is fourth and New Zealand captain Ken Williamson is fifth.
New Zealand batsman Daryl Mitchell has made significant progress. He has scored 13, 108, 190 and unbeaten 62 runs in four innings of the two ongoing Tests against England. So Mitchell is 33 steps ahead in the best 17th place of his career.
Former India captain Virat Kohli is in 10th place due to lack of form.Wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Das is in the best position in Bangladesh. He is in 12th place with 724 ratings.
Trent Bolt, a fast bowler from New Zealand, got eight wickets in the Nottingham Test. In the first innings, he took 5 wickets, and in the second innings, he took 3 wickets. As a result, Bolt has moved up four places in the rankings. With 753 ratings, Bolt is in ninth position.
Australia's Pat Cummins tops the list of bowlers. His rating is 901. India's spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is in second place with 850 ratings.
India's Rabindra Jadeja tops the list of all-rounders in Tests. Shakib is in the fourth place with 327 ratings.
